Ecologically, economically and socially. Sustainability has many facets at Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG has many facets. This is how the company impressed in the "Excellent Sustainability 2023" study published by the F.A.Z. Institute in collaboration with the IMWF Institute for Management and Economic Research. With 1st place in the category "Building materials and building accessories (wholesalers)", the company emerges as a future-oriented pioneer and thus sets significant standards for sustainable action.
Due to the global issues such as worsening climate and energy crisis, scarcity of natural resources, ever-shorter economic cycles, increase in world population as well as demographic change and other evident consequences associated with it, the markets are changing and companies are now forced to change their thinking. Through smart solutions, it is not only necessary to compensate for the resulting CO2 footprint, but also to reduce it sustainably. To restrict sustainability only to the environmental aspect is too narrow a way of thinking. When considered as a holistic concept, sustainability includes social commitment as well as sustainable economy. In this light, the study “Excellent Sustainability 2023” analysed and rated around 20,000 companies with the help of Social Listening within the assessment period from 16th July 2022 to 15th July 2023. Here, the focus was on ecology, social issues and economy.
Sustainability is a strategic success factor for Würth Industrie Service. The company is continuously working to act in a more sustainable manner in all areas of entrepreneurial activity and to implement targeted measures globally. Keeping this in mind, a specially created CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) committeecombines all the company-wide activities, where operational as well as strategic goals are defined, measures are taken and progress is measured. By publishing its sustainability strategy, the company is able to lend additional transparency to the topic.
Sustainable systems solutions. With certainty.
With its automated supply solutions, the C-Parts expert contributes to a sustainable C-Parts management of the future. Thanks to the RFID Kanban delivery, it is now possible to design delivery cycles optimally, tailored to the actual demand and consumption, to shorten the response time as well as to optimise transport and logistics efficiently. The reduction in CO2e emissions of over 50 percent that can be achieved in real terms emphasises the savings that can be made. The focus is on the reusable Kanban bin itself, and specifically, on the recyclability of the material from which the bins are made. In manufacturing, the company relies on a regranulate that consists of 100% recycled material. In this way, defective bins can be reprocessed into regrind or new regranulate via a grinding process. Approximately one tonne of CO2 is saved for each tonne of regranulate used, as opposed to new production of the raw material.
Sustainable products. With certainty.
In order to actively contribute to a sustainable use of resources, Würth relies on the ecological product line ECO LINE, among other things. Here, no environmentally hazardous active ingredients, aromatic hydrocarbons and substances that are harmful to the climate are used. As the volatile organic compounds are additionally reduced, the products can be safely used and at the same time, these products are just as effective as conventionally manufactured ones. With its REFILLO® products, the company also enables a safe and judicious use of resources. With the compressed air-based REFILLO® reusable systems used for refilling spray cans, it is possible to avoid the use of propellant gas and reduce the waste volume and thus the resulting disposal costs. Absolutely secure, cost efficient and sustainable!
Greenhouse gas-neutral energy supply. With certainty.
The use of renewable energy instead of fossil fuels is the most sought-after solution on the path to achieving greenhouse gas-neutrality. Even Würth Industrie Service intends to lead by example and not only compensate for the rising CO2 footprint, but also reduce it sustainably at the Bad Mergentheim location by implementing smart solutions. Several photovoltaic systems with a total output of over 900 kWp and a generation volume of over 800,000 kWh contribute to greenhouse gas?neutral energy supply. Around 300 tonnes of CO2 emissions can be saved per year. The self-generated electricity fulfils the internal consumption requirement of the company and, in addition to the general demand for electricity, it is used directly in logistics, for example, in order to ensure smooth supply to over 20,000 customers from Germany, Europe and around the world. Apropos logistics: Even when it comes to the linchpin of the company, sustainability plays a significant role. For example, volume reducers help minimise the shipping volume by automatically adjusting cartons to the actual filling height. Not only packaging materials but also the transport volume can thus be significantly reduced.

When selecting and auditing the suppliers, the experts leave nothing to chance. That is why, in close coordination with the Würth Group, a worldwide network of auditors has been established, which systematically checks, audits and further develops the suppliers on site keeping in mind important criteria such as product quality, environmental hazards, occupational safety and compliance with social standards. This way the company focuses firmly on a sustainable supply chain worldwide
