FAQ - Answers to frequently asked questions regarding platform solutions

Platforms often offer an extensive service spectrum. Würth Industrie Service focuses exclusively on integrating and supporting the supplier side of a platform and is therefore unable to comment on any other functions or services. Furthermore, platforms often need to be tailored to internal processes and systems that we are not aware of or do not have access to. We therefore do not make any specific recommendations regarding individual platform providers.

Every platform integration is unique – both in terms of type and scope. Key factors here are degree of standardisation and scope of electronic document interchange. Integration can take anywhere from a few clicks to several months, with longer projects usually requiring extensive testing scenarios involving the supplier, the platform and the customer.

We generally structure a platform project in five steps:

  1. Kick-off meeting
  2. Integration phase: internal settings such as catalogue creation and EDI integration.
  3. Test phase: Execution of test scenarios for all document types
  4. Go-live phase: Testing and support in a live environment
  5. Project completion

Each platform uses its own billing model. In this context, costs may be incurred either exclusively by the supplier or by the customer. The cost items include transaction fees, a one-off fee or ongoing license fees, support costs, and individual costs for technical integration.

Through its subsidiary WUCATO, the Würth Group provides a standalone platform solution. Wucato supplies its customers with an extensive product range from various suppliers, including third-party providers. The platform operates as an independent and autonomous company.

A platform automates procurement processes and digitalises all purchasing documents. This significantly reduces the workload for both customers and suppliers, leaving more time for both parties to focus on their core business. At the same time, users are provided with a comprehensive overview of their suppliers’ product ranges and the orders they have placed.
